Ever since I can remember, the power of words has utterly fascinated me. From the things people say, to the print in novels, to those which are screamed into microphones at rock concerts.
I find it surreal how something so every day, so ordinary, when put in the right order can change everything. How a few simple words can make you feel anything from joy, to heartbreak, can bring smiles, or tears. Even how certain quotes can stick in your brain, impossible to get rid of, when others fall out as if you never heard them.
I’ve spoken before about how much the written word means to me, so yesterday when I was having a rubbish day, I came across one of my favourite quotes in a book I was reading, and it made me smile.
So, to have something to look back on when I have another rubbish day, and in hope of making someone else smile today, here are a few of my favourite words – all in the right order, of course.
From: Local Man Ruins Everything – The Wonder Years
From: The Complete Adventure of Sherlock Holmes – Arthur Conan Doyle
From: Heroes – David Bowie (I love this one so much I have it tattooed on me)
From: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix – J.K Rowling
From: The Perks of being a Wallflower – Stephen Chobsky (another one I have tattooed on me!)
From: A Midsummer Night’s Dream – William Shakespeare
So let me know what your favourites are. Or at least if any of mine made you smile.
