You know those weekends where you have really exiting plans, and you’re really up for it all week, and then at the last minute because of circumstances out of your control those plans fall through?
Well, that’s what happened to me and R last weekend. Sadly. So we scouted around looking for something equally fun to do, and we found out that there was something on called Brighton’s Big Screen.
If you haven’t heard about it, it’s running until the 13th of September, and its pretty much what it says on the tin. They’ve put a big screen up on Brighton beach and are showing films in the evenings and weekends.
During the day on the weekends they show children’s films and tickets for those are free. However me and R didn’t want to watch Cinderella (that’s a lie, I did, he didn’t) so we paid the £3 for the evening showing to see Interstella (his choice, not mine) at 5pm.
I think if we hadn’t of just booked it last minute we may have planned it slightly better. Many of the other groups of people had bought blankets and cushions with them to ease to the ache of sitting on hard stones for three hours. But I guess you live and learn.
Overall, I had a lot of fun. It’s really nice to lay out in the sun on the beach and watch a film. I thought that maybe as the sun started to come down it would shine onto the screen and mess up people’s view, but they seemed to have sorted the screen so that that didn’t happen at all.
I think if we book to go again, I will try and be better prepared, because sitting on the stones for a few hours does get uncomfortable. Plus, as far as I know you can take soft drinks in, which we did not. This was a mistake as the food and drink sold in there were all extortionate prices. But you live and learn I guess.
But it’s always fun to do something different of a weekend, and what I thought was going to be a washout of a weekend didn’t turn out too bad at all. Especially since I got to lay out in the sun, with a cold (overpriced) cider and enjoy a film.
So what did you guys do with your weekends? Did you get up to anything fun? Let me know!
